Rush for spring 2010 kicked off Thursday, February 4, 2010, with a dinner at Owens Dining Hall where potential new members could meet with the brotherhood over a casual dinner. The event attracted dozens of rushees to get their first glimpse of Phi Sig at Virginia Tech.

All went according to plan until the sky opened and dropped nearly a foot of snow around Blacksburg, both cancelling classes Friday and forcing a change to the scheduled sports-day rush event for Saturday. However, the rush team craftily made the best of the situation and transformed the event to a snow day. The group split into teams and proceeded to build snow forts and engage in a snowball fight, capture-the-flag hybrid game. The huge yard of the Phi Sig house made for a great battlefield.

No events were planned for Saturday as most students attended the free men’s basketball game versus Clemson.

However, the following day, Super Bowl Sunday, gave the rushees a chance to come back to the Phi Sig house to see the biggest sporting event of the year. Various chips, dips, and other snacks were provided to add enjoyment to the game. There was a packed house, but everyone got a chance to see the Saints handle the Colts, 31-17.

Rush will kick back off this week on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, with game night at the Phi Sig house featuring all kinds of games from board games to the latest video games.

Be sure to consult the rush schedule for the rest of the events.
