The executive board of the Epsilon Hexaton chapter travelled to the Hunt Valley Marriott in Baltimore, Maryland, on the weekend of January 29 to attend the 2010 regional conclave. The conclave was an opportunity for the E-board to bond as a team, learn leadership skills from distinguished alumni during a daylong program, and meet with other chapter leaders in the region to discuss ways to help their chapter grow.
The Conclave gave the leaders of Epsilon Hexaton new insight on how to run their organization and perspective on how their chapter is unique from the other chapters attending. Hot topics of discussion throughout the day were “determining the type of leader you are,” “establishing a chapter vision,” and “operating a chapter based on values.” The members in attendance were also given the opportunity to discuss helpful tips and ideas for better chapter productivity, giving the Virginia tech Phi Sigs a chance to bring back new and exciting ideas to their chapter.
Epsilon Hexaton’s E-board was able to grow as a team by learning to balance their leadership styles, forming new goals for their chapter, and spending every hour of the two days together – not to mention a few shenanigans along the way, including plenty of sass from sophomore secretary Tommy “Sassers” Saunders.
The conclave was moderated by distinguished Phi Sig Alumni including current Grand Council members Sean Shingler and Tim Vojtasko, giving the attending members invaluable contact with leaders of the national fraternity.
Other chapters in attendance were American, Delaware, George Mason, George Washington, Maryland, Radford, and Towson.
